THE CHALLENGE

Dentsu Japan reached out with an opportunity to help launch their Yanmar X39 Speed Cruiser. The X39 Cruiser is a luxury boat designed by Ken Okuyama (previous Chief Designer for GM, Senior Designer for Porsche AG) who previously designed Ferrari, Maserati, and Porsche vehicles. Naturally, the brand wanted to make a splash and was interested in integration opportunities with high end celebrities that would exemplify the spirit of the boat.

THE SOLUTION

Upon hearing of an opportunity featuring Pitbull’s latest music video with a Miami Vice themed storyline, the BEN team immediately identified the opportunity as a perfect fit with a hint of espionage to give the X39 Cruiser a memorable take away for any viewers.

Across three different time zones, the team turn shared storyboards, cruiser stats, and created a turn-key experience for the production and brand. The producers and cast liked the cruiser so much, they decided to re-write the script the night before to exclude a secondary boat as it wouldn’t nearly compare to the X39.

THE RESULTS

Within a matter of 3 weeks, the video was shot and released hitting the web and garnering major press across publications including, Billboard, Miami Sun, Just Jared, Pop Crush, Vibe, Entertainment Weekly, Capital Xtra, Noisey by Vice and much more. Even Chris Brown posted about the video on Instagram to his 10.6M + followers. The video has over 142M views on Vevo and was released over 230 regions across the globe.
